Treat your ears to the angelic voices of one of the world’s oldest musical organizations during mass in Vienna, Austria.
Known in the Austrian language as Wiener Sängerknaben, this youth choral group beholds 6 centuries of music with masterpieces written by prolific composers such as Mozart.
Founded due to an Imperial decree of Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I on July 7, 1498; the Emperor had boys added to the choir of the Imperial Chapel, or Hofkapelle. This started the tradition of boys singing in the weekly Sunday mass at the church, a tradition that continues today.
